I knew this would be a difficult and potentially expensive (and frustrating) task, but one thing I didn’t count on (but I should have predicted) is that I would fall down a wormhole that lead to other albums, artists and merchandise that I had. It’s the curse of all collectors (and now that I think about it — gamblers, alcoholics and heroin addicts) — Just one more… One more 12" single. One more EP I forgot about. THEN I’ll be done. I might as well face up to the fact that I’ll probably never be done, but so far, this has been a fun exercise. One other thing I hadn’t counted on was the stories of some of the people who purchased my records. In my early responses, I’ve found that many of the people who bought them are huge, passionate fans of the respective artist, and cherish these items as much (if not more) than I did. I’ll save the psychology of how so many people become attached to little disks of wax in cardboard, and instead, I’ll be sharing some of their stories with you as I get further along on this journey.
Here is where I stand as of 1/10/17 with the Record Collection Re-acquisition Challenge (RCRC? RC2? This needs a cool nickname. Any suggestions?)
