One month later, after a series of searches on Google, Bing (and every search engine short of “Ask Jeeves”), Facebook messages to everyone with the buyers name, and phone calls to alleged family members, I received a phone call from the person who purchased the album, negotiated a buyback price and it’s back in my collection. The thrill of finally making a connection was greater than I expected. I’m seriously wondering if the thrill of the hunt will overtake the joy of getting the records back as this project becomes more difficult. Judging by the number of times I refreshed the UPS tracking link, the answer might be yes.
Speaking of difficulty, I am almost complete with the first part of this journey. I’d set a budget that would allow me to get a portion of my records back and write a few brief posts about it (thanks for reading) while I determine if it’s worth pursuing the entire 97 record project. Well it’s definitely worth pursuing. Now, I have to get creative to come up with the money to finance the remaining acquisitions.
Challenge accepted.
